Practicing Yoga While Traveling

I will practice while I am travelling. I will pack this Manduka eKO Superlite Yoga Mat. It folds up and fits in my suitcase. (I don't roll it) I highly recommend it for travel. Warning, it is extremely thin but very sticky. It may be my new favorite mat. I will also take one 9' long belt and one thin foam block.

As to what will I practice while I am away?

I will most likely practice some variation of these Foundational Practices that are based on the asana courses from the back of Light on Yoga. (These sequences are listed in Sanskrit. You will have to do some work learning the Sanskrit names and translating the poses into English.) I will do those practices in the morning. They help me wake up and also help to over come jet lag.

I always try to practice Hasta Mudra sometime during the day. These keep my shoulders and neck flexible.

And, at night, I like to do the Supta Padangusthasana series , Seated Forward Bends and/ or Swastikasana Chakra .

As you can see, that is a lot of yoga. But each practice is relatively short and I can tailor it to fit into the time I have. The important thing is to keep practicing! Abhyasa (practice) and Vairagya (detachment) are the two wings of yoga.
